2020 SPRING FUNDRAISER EVENT

March 7th 10am - Noon

We are super excited about our new fundraiser this year for the Apple Tree Preschool!  We have been offered an opportunity to have a one day crafting event with Gale Lane of DevineDesignsbyMG.  She has been instructing classes and selling beautiful wreaths for years now.  Mark your calendars and invite a friend or family member to come along, have fun and make a wreath to welcome spring.  Whether you keep it for your front door or give away as a gift, everyone will leave with a wreath and the knowledge that you have helped to bring fun and learning to a future Apple Tree student.  You do not have to be a ‘crafty’ person to attend.  Everyone is welcome, so please spread the word and help us fill up the seats.  Children are also welcome to join in the fun this year.  We will have a movie, snacks and spring craft for them to make and take.

All money earned from this fundraiser goes back into our classrooms for supplies, to replace broken and worn out toys, and new educational curriculum.  If you are unable to attend or this type of fundraising event is not for you, that is fine.  You are welcome to make a monetary donation instead.  We also hope you will spread the word to help keep our preschool thriving in the future.

Apple Tree Preschool News

The year is off to a great start!  Our students are busy learning the routines and making new friends.  We did not have enough students to start an afternoon class this year, but we do have a waiting list started which should keep our morning classes full.  Mrs. Ruffing and Mrs. Wohlever are both doing a great job in their new roles.  The students are enjoying lots of new fun learning activities.  The classrooms and schedules have been rearranged this year for better learning in an early learning environment.  This new arrangement is still evolving but should prove to be more productive and effective for our students.

We’ve had some special guests join us including Rev. Rich. He was kind enough to play his guitar and lead a sing-along to The Wheels on the Bus and Old McDonald Had a Farm with our music class. The students learned opposites as he showed us how loud and soft he could play and everyone got a turn to go up and gently strum the strings.

Another regular special guest will be Lisa Schwan.  She has graciously agreed to come in and do fun science experiments with the classes once a month.  She is also helping out with ideas and supplies for our snacks on Thursdays.  The school is lucky to have her.

We are excited to have Mrs. Robin, the children’s librarian from Portage County District Library, to read to the students and we are expecting a special guest from Hiram College Biology Dept. in November to bring in some animals to learn about.

We recently enjoyed our fall field trip to Guyette’s Farm in Mantua in the beginning of October. It was a special day for our parents and students as we learn about animal and plant science as well as getting a chance to play in their corn filled slides and hay maze that was just their size.

The students have already begun practicing for Christmas and we are looking forward to trying something new this year. We will be joining the Sunday school students by singing in their Christmas program.

The congregation has always been very generous to the preschool in the past. We want you to know that it is appreciated.  If anyone is able to help us out this year, we are in need of baby wipes and Lysol wipes. Thank you!!
